From a story begun on November 12th, 2010
Festival of Night. While celebrating Ghost Night in the Theater district, they were attacked by the living dead. A little ways up the street, a well-dressed man and his companion were also fighting off the undead. Rushing to their aid, the party destroyed the undead and drove off the masked man who'd been leading them. They escorted the man to a fancy townhouse in the Theater District and discovered that his name was Lord Propertian and that he has grabbed a strange obsidian sphere from his attackers.
Later that night, the undead struck again in force and the party drove them off. Lord Propertian hired the party to find out who was behind the attack and the invasion of his home.
Investigating, the party discovered that several people had been attacked by undead and a few had seen masked living folk amongst them. The masked man they'd killed at Propertian's townhouse had been wearing a leatherworker's apron under his robes. The characters tracked him back to a modestly prosperous leatherworker's shop in the Market District between the Theater District and the Emporium. A little investigating convinced them that the wife and the apprentices weren't involved. But they found out that the missing master and two of his apprentices (also missing) regularly attended meetings at a Tannery on the Pholtarian Ridge.
Sneaking into the Tannery, they discovered a secret temple beneath it that held a weak spot where the Labyrinth was breaking into the world. The Servitor of the Labyrinth in the temple was collecting soul energy to stabilize the nexus and to create a permanent connection.
The party defeated the Servitor and watched the nexus close. They alerted the authorities (Latona Prisk) who handed the matter off to the Knights of St. Sebastos. The Knights took up the task of watching the site for any signs of activity, but Vicar-General Alcary surmised that the nexus would become active again next year, during the festival of night.
It is now one year later ....
