Carlos Del Rey
The Psychic Juggernaut
Carlos is an average sized, hispanic man in his late 20’s. For work he is a musician (mostly Classical Guitar and Traditional Mexican Folk music ... since his band, The Sultans, broke up) In his spare time he volunteered with Outward Bound doing outreach with troubled youth. It was on an OB expedition when the world changed with the coming of the WitchStorm.
Carlos and his wife, Yvonne, were leading a backpacking trip in Maderia Canyon, south of Green Valley, with 7 ‘at-risk youths‘ (13-15 years old) most of these kids had problems with drugs, petty crime, and gang affiliation, but they had been in the program for a while. They were four days into a week long trip when the storm hit. Yvonne was the first to feel ‘the fear’ a few minutes before the rest of the group. She is the one who got them into a cave, it was Carlos who made sure everyone got inside before he did, after that he does not remember, everything in his memory is white.
When he came to all of the kids and Yvonne were still panicked but he was surrounded by a purple, slightly glowing, shell of ectoplasm. This shell moved with him, and lifted him 10cm off the ground, it was like an extension of his will. Carlos was able to shed the ectoplasmic barrier before any of the others regained their senses. After a few minutes everyone calmed down a bit and all was ok for a while, there was no evident change except for the blown down trees and general havoc caused by such a tremendous storm. They decided to cut their trip short and hike two days to the Forest Ranger/Firefighter’s station and hitch a lift to they van and get back home. With no cell phone reception, doubtless their families would be worried.
The woods felt different to Yvonne after the storm. It was nothing she could put her finger on, but there was a strangeness about. So, when they made it to the Ranger station they were in for a huge surprise ... all four of the rangers were ravenous walking dead. When they attacked, it was a shock. If it weren’t for Yvonne’s warning, they may have been killed. It was by instinct that Carlos manifested the Ectoplasmic Shell, it was not just protection that it provided, it also gave him tremendous strength and he could form it into deadly jabbing blades, he could reach 16m away, and he could fling himself through the air a tremendous distance. Yvonne sheltered the teens, and Carlos laid waste to the rangers, but all of the tires on the trucks were slashed and the radio was busted into bits. Communication was not an option, they needed to hike to the van.
There were a few more encounters with the hungry dead, other outdoors enthusiasts ... including a particularly harrowing encounter with Boyscout troop 411, which they barely escaped. The scouts exhibited a pack mentality and more intelligence than the ‘normal’ hungry dead as well as a proclivity for terror and malevolence. But they made it to the van, only to find that all of the vehicles had their tires slashed, and they found one of the boyscouts breaking windshields and prying off steering wheels with a tire iron. They managed to disable the scout and cobble together two cars with the spare tires left in the parking lot. They made their way to Green Valley, where they holed up for a while now they have decided to try for Tucson in an RV they took and a Ford Explorer they have stocked with supplies ... Yvonne has a bad feeling about Davis-Monthan, so they are going to try for El Con Mall.

Yvonne has powers, but they are not directly combat related. Here they are but they can be expanded to include anything ESP like.
