Edward is a 20 year old student at the University of Arizona. He lives on campus thanks to some money from his parents. He is an average student, but very much the nerd. He is a total anime freak, and has been to several Comic-Con's in his life. He has his own D&D group at the school, and still play's WoW.
Everything changed the day of the Witchstorm. He was just getting ready to go out to his Molecular Chemistry class, when it hit. He had just enough time to see the storm, and then dive under his bed from the "fear".
When he came out, he discovered what had happened. He saw students getting up and moving towards the other students that happened to escape the storm. When they started eating them, he screamed and fired a beam that turned the first one it hit to a pile of multi-colored dust and gas. He then started shooting down as many as he could, trying to get the still living students to make a retreat to the dorm Alpha Phi.
It was there that he learned what the rest of his powers were, and what they did. That beam he could shoot was actually a disintegrating ray. He could also touch things to disintegrate them. The big power though, and the one that made him the most excited, was his "alchemy" power. He could touch something, learn all of the elements in it, and manipulate them on the sub-atomic level and make them any other element, even new ones. He could also rebuild objects that had been completely destroyed.
He fortified up the dorm as best he could, then had everyone sit and wait.
He started studying every book he could, while helping with small scouting parties and trying to rescue whoever else he could. They grabbed food, clothing, and any other kind of supplies they could. With Edward's power, he was able to create water, but only in limited quantities and only if there was a large place to put it. He does this by binding the hydrogen and oxygen molecules in the air and poof, water.
He also learned that when he disintegrated a zombie, the dust and gas left behind was actually the elements that make up the body.
His ability to transmute one element into another has led him to practicing some very interesting things, such as creating a dynamite pit by touching the sidewalk and changing it.
After a few months had passed, the group had gotten pretty restless and pretty large. They needed to go somewhere else, that had more food, and more space.
He had seen the "Come to Costco" signs, so he helped one of the students grab a Suntran bus, loaded the survivors up and headed to Costco. He brought with him everything he could, including books, food, clothes, and college kids.
