Baldur Stein is a courier. He has undergone a number of surgical procedures to enhance his effectiveness. He has had extensive training in the art of disguise and when combined with his modifications, he can vary his appearance to a great degree. He can appear as either sex, to the point that you could be in bed with him/her and not know the difference.
He also has a few small body pouches to help him transport tiny bits of contraband.
He met the group as an adversary, as he stole something from Alexa Thorpe's entourage when they were coming to Pharos Station for an exhibition on spaceship design. Baldur was forced to do the theft as the criminals had kidnapped his brother and they threatened to kill him if he didn't go through with it. As Baldur didn't harm anyone to steal the package and he was willing to help the party get the kidnappers, he returned the goods, saved his brother, and paid the group what he could.
He joined the party during their time on Paloma.

Tenn Fong is a 46 year old oriental male and the 10th child of Eric and Sunni Fong. Tenn grew up on the industrial (TL 14) world of Penglai, which was established primarily by Chinese of Mandarin decent during the Golden Age of Exploration. The primary export of Penglai is agriculture and organically shaped architecture. Penglai also has many pleasure gardens and spas for those who have the money to afford such getaways.
For generations, Tenn’s family was one of four that maintained a monopoly on the technique for shaping and growing Naggi wood into starship interiors. Naggi is a dense wood that looks similar to oak when polished and is several times stronger than steel at 1/4th the weight when properly cured. Naggi trees will only grow on Penglai, efforts to transplant or genetically alter them to grow elsewhere has resulted in a spongy bush that is useless or a tree that will not take to the shaping techniques. At the age of 18, Tenn entered the family business as a merchant and acted as a broker to foreign buyers for custom designed interiors. Though he excelled at the dealing table and at milking extra expenses out of the customer, a short-lived affair with his secretary prevented him from delving too deeply into the finer subtleties of trade. As a result of this, his cousin (Kira Fong) was promoted over him to head of foreign relations.
With the promotion of his cousin and having overcome the novelty of socializing with women, Tenn turned his complete interest to helping the company achieve record profits over the next four years. Kira, sensing that Tenn would one day replace him as head of foreign relations and learn of his illegal side dealings with the black market, used one of his lackeys to frame Tenn for embezzlement. Tenn spent 6 months collecting information and going through account records to prove his innocence. Several individuals under Kira took the blame for this illegal action and somehow were lost in the legal system never to be seen again. Though a trial date was set for these individuals, an actual trial never took place. Shortly after Tenn was promoted to head of foreign affairs, Kira resigned and moved off-world.
The next 8 years saw the family Naggi business explode under Tenn’s administration with several bouts of good fortune. A new line of luxury craft was launched by Arrow Industries, a Penglai based company that makes high speed yachts. Tenn brokered a deal for these yachts to exclusively use his family’s resources for the interiors. Arrow also manufactures small stealth craft and armored shuttles for both private and military use. The success and record sales of these yachts was responsible for Arrow offering a huge sum of money to buy the Fong business and the business of the other three family’s which held the secret to shaping Naggi wood.
With nothing else to do, Tenn joined Arrow Industries as a corporate agent. Tenn’s job was to ensure that trade secrets remained the property of Arrow Industries. Over the next 8 years Tenn advanced within the intelligence branch of Arrow and held a chair on several committees. Most of his actual time involved shifting through paper/ computer trails and checking references. Very boring work, but work at which he was very thorough and efficient.
During his 9th year with Arrow a casual investigation took a turn to something more sinister. It appeared that an entire department which was financed from a source Tenn could not find existed only in virtual space. There was no know physical location or address for this department and the funds and resources it received went off-world. There was a familiar footprint to the data trail that reminded him of the illegal actions he was framed for years earlier. When he brought this to his director’s attention, he was placed into a special group to locate the source of the funds and to find the destination of the goods leaving Arrow Industries for this mysterious department. In hindsight, Tenn probably should have looked closer at those in this group, most of them had extensive police or military training.
Four years of investigation led Tenn’s team to a small hollowed out asteroid on the edge of the Penglai system, everyone but Tenn went in “locked and loaded”. What should have been a simple arrest of smugglers turned into an intense firefight. As the bullets started flying and the agent next to Tenn exploded into a mass of pulp and viscera, Tenn noticed his cousin Kira ducking into a stolen Arrow Industries stealth shuttle. Realizing that it was Kira that framed him all those years ago, he grabbed the gun of the still smoking corpse next to him and gave pursuit. He was shot through the chest three steps from cover and went down. The world went black and three weeks past.
Tenn woke up in an ICU to discover that his spinal cord had been severed and the remains fused by the bolt that pierced his chest. He was unable to move anything below his neck. His father pulled connections within Arrow to get them to pay for a combat augment that would allow him some mobility. Due to the amount of rehabilitation required from the injury and the time to calibrate the augments to work with his body, Tenn was forced to resign from Arrow Industries. They did promote him though and give him severance pay for his 12 years time and the successful conclusion to the Kira incident.
During rehab Tenn began investigating ways to regain his lost dexterity and strength. He learned of a technique published by Doctor Jorgan Emitris of the Pharos Station that can use synthetic fibers to mimic nerves and muscle tissue. Tenn spent 20,000 credits to have a neurologist flown to Penglai and undertook the procedure. While enduring yet another long and boring recovery, Tenn took an interest in the Pharos system and the nearby wormhole. In a recent video documentary of the area, Tenn noticed his cousin ducking out of sight of the camera in a background shot.
When he was released from the rehab center, he booked the first available flight to Pharos and has begun spending his free time learning to shoot firearms. It’s not out of revenge that he will hunt Kira down, it’s merely to see things finished… to balance the books.

Benedict is a 40 years old male from the Earth Alliance. He grew up on a sturgeon farm in the Russian consortium. While his parents were happy working on the farm, Benedict had his mind set on the stars. He joined the Imperial Marines right out of school and his aptitudes put him in the Ground Assault division. After basic training, a little advanced training, and a few combat engagements for the Earth Alliance, he gained the rank of Sergeant.
During the liberation of the Gemini colony, Benedict was one of the first to drop in from orbit. An army of raiders had taken over the colony, enslaved its people, and used the colony as a base to launch their raids. He was instrumental in the rescue of 39 colonists, mainly children, being held in the school as leverage against their parents. This helped him to achieve lieutenant. The heroism he showed during the Libra-Rubicon incident earned him the rank of Captain.
A few years later, Benedict found himself in the unpleasant situation of testifying against one of his superior officers. Colonel Philip Aldred launched an operation against a Chumakh colony on the edge of Earth Alliance space. He failed to get proper intelligence on the situation as well as authorization from his superiors. Due to his numerous errors, over two squads of marines were killed and the unprovoked attack set back the Chumakh-Earth Alliance ceasefire negotiations back about a decade. Colonel Aldred was court-marshaled, dishonorably discharged, and sent to military prison.
He finished out his fifth term and mustered out of the marines. Never being one for just sitting around, he found a management job with Vetica Industries. The work was easy, uncomplicated and incredibly dull. Benedict quit after two years. While he was trying to figure out what to do with his life, a neighbor’s kid went missing. He led the efforts to locate the missing child and seeing the boy reunited with his parents made him feel good. He decided he would head to the frontier and see if people were willing to hire a freelance problem solver.
(I adjusted my rank to Captain, after considering the ease of advancement and the extended lifespan.)
