Please use this thread for a discussion of Karthis character ideas. It will be important to build a party that can work well together and that covers all the bases.

My main character concept currently revolves around a human bard, possibly of Vengana origin although he considers himself a Karthian.

I am thinking of playing a LN cleric of Zemaras with the Earth and Rune domain. I will probably play a male human. Couple questions though, 1- The rune domain gives you Scribe Scoll, can I start with a few scrolls (paid using start money) and 2- Do Zemaras clerics only rebuke undead or get a choice of turn/ rebuke. I assume you don't get both. And if you rebuke, can you still spontaneously heal?

3- Does skelleton and/ or zombie appear on the summon monster list for clerics of Zamaras?

I'm planning on Rhiando Eldrovar. A Gnome Summoner from Karthis (that's the name of the big city, right?).

Remember that a level 1 scroll with a caster level of 1 costs 12.5 gp to scribe. Neutral clerics may choose whether to channel positive or negative energy. Those who channel positive energy may spontaneously cast cure spells, and those who channel negative energy spontaneous cast inflict spells. Remember that the basic channel ability either heals or causes damage. You need to take a feat to turn or command undead. Many clerics of Zemaras have the feat command undead.

3- Does skelleton and/ or zombie appear on the summon monster list for clerics of Zamaras? The short answer is yes. Let me check the 3.5 summon undead spell and see if I can cannibalize it for supplemental creatures for the Zemaras list.

I will most likely go with channel negative energy and see how that works. My two feats as a human cleric are selective channeling (I can choose not to effect two targets) and command undead. Is it possible to take selective channeling twice as a feat and double the number of targets you can ignore? Also could I start with a skeletal rat as a pet with no game effects? I figured he was a childhood pet his mother animated for him. It would spend most of the time just sitting on his shoulder, but he plays with it when bored.

Sessara (SES-SAH-RA) Oracle - Clouded Eyes Curse. Battle Mystery
Sessara is a young woman, about 20 years old, 5'6" (168 cm) from a merchant family in Karthis. She has a very fair complexion, grey eyes and long light blonde hair. Her family is of Manavian ancestory with many cousins, uncles and aunts spread throughout the Niemocrands - all associated with the wine trade. As one of seven children, Sessara was destined to grow up and be married to a distant cousin to keep the merchantile family tied together through blood relationships.
But when Sessara turned 16, her life changed. Some divine entity descended upon her, leaving her eyes cloudy. Her world filled with a thick fog, hiding anything further away than 30 feet in tendrils of mist. Voices started to talk to her out of the mists, sometimes whispering to her of spells she could cast, sometimes pleading with her, other times shouting at her. A powerful, thundering male voice spoke to her often, advising her to take up arms and defend the world. She finally gave in to get him to shut up, practicing with the guards in the family's halls.
Her father visited temples and clerics, trying to puzzle out the changes in his daughter. But no one he consulted could help. Sessara had changed, becoming combative and moody, shouting at someone no one else could see. Her arranged marriage fell through when the cousin heard of her plight.
After four years, her father had enough. He told Sessara to leave and not return until her curse was lifted.
Sessara's one desire is to be freed from her god-ridden state and return to her family. She has begun her travels to discover what divine entity has taken control of her life and for what reason.

Arynn Greymantle is the youngest of four children born to Adria and Timo Greymantle. Arynn's parents both serve as priests in the Temple of Zamaras. His father helps see to the day-to-day administration of the temple and his mother works with those who come seeking the services that the Temple offers. There has always been a Greymantle serving the church as far back as the records and logbooks of the temple go.
Arynn and his siblings grew up on the temple grounds, frequently testing the boundaries of where they could and couldn't play. Hide and seek in the catecombs beneath the temple was a favorite past time. As one of the smaller faiths in the pantheon and given the stigma associating followers of Zamaras and the undead, Arynn's older brother and sisters chose to leave the confines of the temple upon coming of age. Nola Greymantle, his older sister, used the family name and connections to borrow money to open a small tavern. Gano, the second child and Arynn's older brother, has recently taken a position as a barrister with the courts. His youngest sister Istara, married a woodsman and lives on the edge of town where she is expecting her first child.
Fearing that the line of priests serving Zamaras might be broken with their children, Adria and Timo pushed hard for Arynn to join the church. Giving into their wishes, Arynn entered the service of the Temple of Zamaras as an acolyte and when not helping with services worked in the library helping to maintain and transcribe the texts and scrolls owned by the church.
Arynn is a friendly and open individual in his mid-twenties of average height and build. He has the peculiar habit of assigning emotional traits and names to the mindless dead on the temple grounds and claims a few of them as friends. He also has a skeletal rat (provided it's okay with the GM) that sits on his shoulder. He tends to play with it, having it move from hand to hand like an animated bone slinky when he gets bored. The rat was a childhood pet, animated by his mother as a reward for choosing to devote his life to Zamaras. The rats name is Albert.

Selective Channeling may only be taken once. In Pathfinder, the convention is that they will tell you in the description if the feat can be taken more than once, and what in game effect it has if you take it more than once. A skeletal rat is a tiny 1 HD creature with no INT that does 1 point of damage if it manages to hit in combat. I would say that there's no problem having one as a pet.

3- Does skelleton and/ or zombie appear on the summon monster list for clerics of Zamaras? I have added information on Summon Undead spells under Zemaras in the Religion in Karthis thread. Clerics of Zemaras and Wizards who specialize in Necromancy may add these spells to their spell list.

Istovar Orlanthy
Istovar is the fourth oldest of the grandchildren of the Lord Orlanthy who destroyed himself and his lands with some sort of necromantic ritual or device in order to save it from being overrun by the Ice Witch many years ago. Istovar himself has the greater magical gifts that runs most commonly in his family, the blood of the frozen mountain tops, the land of frost giants and Ice trolls, and he is no stranger to magic. He studied, eclectically, if not diligently, at the tower of sorcerery in <Insert>. He stands about half an inch or so under average hight and has a lean, well built body. His dark hair is going prematurely gray (as is so common in those with sorcererous blood in the Orlanthy line) and is worn in a style a few years out of date. He dresses in cool colors accented by white and silver, when he can.

The closest Tower of Sorcery to Orlan is located in Hesmarren. If you are in High Peak Castle (the seat of the domain of Orlan) and head down the trail towards the Lower Plateau, about 30 miles from the castle you will find the entrance to the Valley of Hesmarren. Follow the valley eastward as it climbs towards the Great Glacier and you will come to the village of Carhestren and Castle Hesmarren (seat of the Istmary domain). Carhestren tower is located just outside the village.
Other towers are a possibility as well.

The Tower of Sorcery in Hesmarren is fine, it is better than fine as a matter of fact. High Peak Castle is the one choked with hordes of skeletons, correct?

The Tower of Sorcery in Hesmarren is fine, it is better than fine as a matter of fact. High Peak Castle is the one choked with hordes of skeletons, correct? Yes. Highpeak Castle is the seat of the Domain of Orlan, the least populous of all the domains of Karthis. Most of the inhabitants, other than those in the castle, lived in Ice Vale. Similar to the Vale of Hesmarren, it stretches eastward and upslope towards the Great Glacier. It is higher in elevation than Hesmarren. It's also shorter and steeper, with rougher and rockier terrain. The real question is: "What happened to the inhabitants of Ice Vale?" The only way into Ice Vale would be to scale the perpetually snowy peaks from Hesmarren or to go through High Peak Castle. The castle has three gates. One leads to the high pass (only 1 mile up the trail), one leads down the trail towards the Lower Plateau, and the third opens into the western (lower) reaches of Ice Vale. There has been no contact for 38 years.
