Standing at the door leading out of the deck, Ashe translated the signs written in Androffan. One, with an arrow pointing back to the way they had come, said “Habitat Deck – CX355” and the other said, “Science Deck”. There was also a small map for visitors.
Going forward, through the double doors, the PCs found themselves in an atrium with a security desk. The doors on the north side had blood stains. The doors to the East were locked. The southern wall was discolored with green mold and fungi growing around the seams.
Checking out the security desk and adjoining room, the PCs found various items including a locked box with a white icon. The security desk had a computer which displayed various fragments of Androffan code (Think something like Perl, but obfuscated.), images of aliens and other bits of information.
Leaving Valder to guard the security area, the PCs decided to follow the blood stains, once they determined that they were less than a week old. The hallway curved from the doors, heading east.
There were four piles of wreckage in the hallway, remains of robots. But the blood stains became smeared – as if something bleeding was being dragged.
At the end of the hallway, the PCs had a choice – continue east, following the blood smears – or go south through double doors. They went south – finding a wrecked Chemistry lab and a Break Room off another short hallway. There was a short fight in the chemistry room with chemical oozes – and the break room proved to be source of food in a tube. (Goo-sticks – they’ll make you sick only 50% of the time.)
Returning to tracking the blood smears – the PCs entered a Geology Lab. Where the blood smear was supposed to be – the floor had been licked clean. A cerebric fungus came around the corner and telepathically started asking questions. The PCs responded. It told them that machines had come through the lab, dragging someone. Someone left red food on the floor. The cerebric fungus cleaned up the red food but wanted more.
Ashe and Obin distracted the cerebric fungus with Goo-sticks that they spread on the floor while the rest of the PCs quickly left by the other doorway.
Now, they were in a ‘T’-shaped hallway. The blood smear continued here, leading up to doors in the middle of the ‘T’. When the PCs opened the doors – they found a Medical Lab. On the medical beds which had a wide variety of mechanical arms hanging overhead, they saw one body, vivisection-ed. Blood was everywhere. Several robots tried to get the PCs to step inside – they were going to prepare them for a medical procedure.
The PCs destroyed the robots and collected the body of Gerrol Sanders in a body bag. Then they stepped out of the medical lab and checked out the doors at the end of the ‘T’.
Here they found more robots in a Sick Bay. Also in the sick bay were several beds and a enclosed stasis chamber. From inside the stasis chamber, they could hear thumping and banging. After finishing off the robots, the PCs opened the stasis chamber and found Khonnir Baine inside.
Khonnair was in bad shape, barely able to move and not being able to speak clearly. A healing from Grigoro allowed the PCs to bring him to the security area where Valder was keeping an eye out.
Exploring the rest of the science deck, the PCs found that a group of vegepygmies had taken over the hydroponics area. The second expedition of Brigh worshippers had fallen victim to their spores. The PCs wiped out the lesser vegepygmies and allowed the chieftain to retreat to the Underdark if he gave up his treasures.
In the center of the science deck, they found an elevator. It had been damaged so that no one could use it. A coupling had been yanked from the electrical supply and smashed. Quincy was able to remove the coupling from the wires without getting shocked. They would be able to repair it in Torch with the help of Khonnir and put the elevator in service again.
Gathering up Valder and the clumsy Khonnir at the security area – the PCs made their long journey back outside to Torch.
