Having returned to Torch, the PCs were able to return Khonnir Baine to his daughter. The councilors of Torch rewarded them for bringing Khonnir out of the caverns and Mylan Radli, the local priest of Pharasma paid a small reward for recovering bodies so that they could be properly buried.
While Father Joram worked to cure Khonnir from the nanite disease that the machines of the medical lab had infected him, the PCs went around Torch, getting ready to return to the ship ruins. Quincy needed time to prepare his alchemical bombs and they needed time to reforge the broken electrical coupling for the ship’s elevator.
Val Baine has heard some rumors in Torch about the purple-haired lady. She is trying to locate a boy named Billi that might know something. Billi showed up a few days later. He was a spaced-out kid, an assistant junior stablehand at Iven’s Livery Stable. Billi had a fascination with Niferia’s purple hair – which Ashe had to slap out of him.
Billi overheard the purple-haired lady ask about Garmin Ulreth (the owner of the Silverdisc Gambling Hall). He then followed the purple-haired lady to the Silverdisc Hall where she met Garmin, then followed her to an abandoned warehouse that Garmin owned up on the north side of Torch. She and her crew went inside and didn’t come out again.
The PCs decided to go to this warehouse. Quincy popped the lock on the doors and they went inside. The warehouse was two stories tall, the ground floor covered in boxes and the second floor accessible with catwalks. Creeping quietly, they surprised Gamin and his enforcers, the Ropefist Gang. Garmin and his enforcers were soon defeated.
Talking to Garmin, they learned that the purple-haired lady was an android named Meyanda. She placed an device here and left. The PCs searched the mostly empty boxes and found a power relay. Turning it off, they took the item with them. Garmin had hoped to leave Torch and start up his crimes elsewhere – the PCs put an end to Garmin.
Khonnir having recovered and the electrical coupling reforged, the PCs re-entered the caverns to the wreck of the ship. Quincy reattached the coupling and they descended to the Engineering Deck.
Stepping out of the elevator, they were struck by a strong animal stink. Meyanda had left thyclines here as guards. Valder quietly calmed the animals down and made them his friends. They pointed out where most of Meyanda’s forces where.
The ratfolk and half-orcs quickly were defeated although they fought to the death. Quincy was able to defeat the white-icon locked doors and bring the PCs to the habitat’s navigation bridge. Here, they found an altar and statue to an unknown god, a statue of an uprised claw made of scrap metal and wires. Defending the room was a gargoyle. Under Obin’s axe, he went down in a flurry of wings and claws.
One door separated the PCs from Meyanda and the reactor room. Quincy unlocked the door. The reactor room was dominated by a pair of massive cylinders glowing with power. There was so much noise that Meyanda, busy trying to find out why her power wasn’t being relayed, did not hear the PCs enter the room.
In six seconds, the PCs blasted her down while Obin dispatched the collector robot. The PCs kept her from dying in order to ask questions. In the meanwhile Quincy studied the monitors next to the reactor and then restarted the reactor’s fail-safes. The fail-safes vented the excessive reactor gasses through the ceiling. Torch’s flame had been relit.
Back in Torch, the PCs turned Meyanda over to Father Joram. They had learned that Meyanda was serving a new god or demi-god called Hellion. He could be found in Scrapwall and promised to replace all of life with machines. Father Joram was going to try to de-program her fanatic devotions.
The town of Torch gladly rewarded the PCs for relighting the bright purple flame.
