Staggered and Knocked Out.
We use the term Staggered to refer to some one that is at -0 to -10 STUN. The rules call this Knocked Out but as the character is not actually unconscious, we use the term Staggered. If a character is Stunned and Staggered, he does not need to Recover from being Stunned before he can take a Recovery. The character cannot take a Recovery on the Segment he was Staggered or Knocked Out. He must wait for his next full Phase.
Using the fight noted above, the Elder Worm hits the Spectre on Segment 6 DEX 25, Stunning and Staggering him, leaving him with -9 STUN. On Segment 6, DEX 20, the Spectre cannot Recover from being Stunned or Staggered as it was done this Segment. The Elder Worm devours a hot dog cart on Segment 8. On Segment 9 DEX 20, the Spectre takes a Recovery, putting him at -1 STUN. He is still Stunned and Staggered. On Segment 10, the Elder Worm decides to swallow the Spectre. As the Spectre is Stunned and Staggered, he is at 1/2 DCV and he has no skill levels and cannot abort to a defensive maneuver, The Elder Worm easily hits and swallows the hero. On Segment 12 DEX 25, the Elder Worm's acid starts to digest the Spectre, but his combat armor resists the damage. On Segment 12 DEX 20, Spectre gets another Recovery, putting him at 7 STUN. He is no longer Stunned or Staggered, but his is still in the stomach of the Elder Worm.
