This long staff is carved of an unknown dark purple crystal. It is tipped at the base end with a tarnished gilded spike and at the top with a gilded Gothic-like spire. Both ends are inscribed with an unknown writing. A Comprend Languages spell can only make out 'Shub-Niggurath'. The rest of the inscription, understood literally, is gibberish. It is too alien.
The staff is very rare, requires attunement and has 10 charges. It acts as a +1 quarterstaff, providing a +1 to spell DCs and damage. It also serves as a Necklace of Adaption, allowing the wielder advantage on saving throws against harmful gases and vapors. It will keep the +1 and the Adaption powers even if the charges are all discharged. Using the last charge, the staff curses the wielder, forcing disadvantage on all attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks. This lasts until the staff is able to regain at least 1 charge.
The Staff of the Dark Tapestry has ten charges and regains 1d6+4 charges at nightfall, not dawn. It allows the wielder to cast the following spells:
Confusion (2 charges) Darkness (2 charges) Fear ( 2 charges) Ray of Sickness ( 1 charge)
