This thread will be for discussion of humanoid races that are not typically available as player characters.
Orog (Ogres)
The Orog are an ancient race that has existed on Rhiada throughout recorded history. Standing 220 to 250 cm in height and weighing 125 to 150 kilos, they are tower over most other races on Rhiada. They appear much as humans, but with coarser features. Their skin is yellowish in color (ranging from flax to mustard to gamboge to raw umber) and is typically covered with cutaneous horn.
Orog tribes live in deep forests and mountains. They are accomplished stone and leather workers, but have no tradition of metalworking. Many tribes will trade with other races to get metal weapons. They practice herding and hunting, but little in the way of agriculture.
Culturally, the orog have borrowed heavily from the trolls, but they practice little magic. Although they have a reputation for being simple minded, most scholars agree that this is far from the truth. Orogs are a practical people and have little use for useless knowledge or arts.
Orogs dwell in small tribes, seldom numbering more than a few hundred. They have little respect for borders or the property of other races. Raiding is a way of life among them, but it requires a truly inspirational leader to lead the orog to war.
Orog tribes dwell in the Niemocrands, the Umber Mountains, the Urhag hills of Lugash and the Plains of Acheron (among other locations). Young males will often serve as mercenaries among other races in order to win wealth to use in procuring a bride.
Orogs are one of the races used by the Scatha to create the orc race.
