The permanent population of Pharos Station is 1200, but there are regularly 1800-2400 transients or short term residents. I like the idea of small container gardens and small open spaces between the districts to reduce noise and make the area more habitable.
The forward ring is also known as the commercial ring. It holds shops, hotels and businesses. The aft ring is also known as the residential ring. It holds housing, laboratories and some food production facilities.
The forward zero gee module contains the small ship bays and warehouse spaces, as well as the sensor arrays and command areas. The rear zero gee module contains factories, power plants and laboratories.
The population of the station is growing at a rapid pace. Pharos corporation understands the need for expansion in these circumstances and is currently debating the merits of two approaches. One plan is to build a new station to replace Pharos station. It would be a large station capable of holding up to half a million people. The second plan is to build several more stations about the same size, each dedicated to a different function. There would be an agricultural station, a warehousing station, etc....
The question arises as to which plan they'll adopt.
