Sitting at the edge of the Gamboge Forest, almost under the eaves of the great trees is a ramshackle manor house. It sits on a fieldstone foundation, its half-timber construction rising two stories and it is covered with a roof of straw thatching. At one corner is a tower, three floors tall, constructed in the same fieldstone and heavy timber style as the rest of the house. The building is almost hidden from sight by a shroud of clinging roses.
It is the home of the high elven wizard Kerselar. He has been in Severan’s Mill for as long as anyone can remember. Kerselar is mysterious in the way of all wizards, disappearing for days on end and returning suddenly. It is rumored that he might be associated with the Brothers of the Bronze, that hidden society of mages, foresters and rangers that protect Nyrond’s forests. Kerselar has been seen wearing a small bronzewood trinket.
Kerselar is known to occasionally help various villagers out with their problems although his solutions are not always clear or achievable. It for this reason that most Severan villagers do not bother him.
Recently, Kerselar has taken on an apprentice. She is a distant relative, sent out by her family to finally buckle down and do something with her life. Aerwyn is a high elf, short at 4’9” and weighing some 92 pounds. Like most high elves, she is fair-skinned and dark haired with bright green eyes. She is not a good student, preferring to hang out in Severan rather than working on her studies. The fact that her great-uncle Kerselar is often gone doesn’t help things either.
When she isn’t busy with trimming the roses around the house, taking care of the various animals or doing the housework, Aerwyn can be found in the inns and taverns of Severan’s Mill. Aerwyn isn’t a heavy drinker – a few pints of ale will get her wasted – but she enjoys the talk and company. When she is alone at home, she reads extensively from Kerselar’s vast library of lore and history.
Aerwyn - 1st level wizard
Background – Sage.
Personality Trait – I think she has read something on the subject, somewhere. I’m a know-it-all.
Ideal – Self-Improvement – The goal of study is to improve myself.
Bond – Knowledge must not be lost – I’ve got to protect it.
Flaw – I’m really lazy – preferring to read and study than to do the work
