First month, first day. Rain, dreary, twilight. Scene -the “Bridge”, a plaza between east and west Callestan on which a bridge from the upper tiers had fallen. The event – an apparent fight over control between Daask and the Boromar clan for control.
In the fight, a half-orc woman lost her arm in a fight with two gnolls, Roscoe ran over to help, Summer went to help Roscoe as well as Cypher. One of the gnolls killed the woman while the other turned to face the new danger. As the gnolls fall, another gnoll howls and the Daask forces begin to retreat. The Boromar clan call everyone over the Golden Anvil for healing and a dinner.
The severed arm bore the Mark of Finding. Roscoe goes through her things and finds a journal belonging to Zenobia Devage of House Tharashk. The half-orc woman was looking for two cousins, Thelma Sharpwell and Colina Coldwell. The two were from the Red Stone area and had descended to Callestan to visit the Silvermist to see Jix the Dancer. Neither had returned later that night.
Roscoe and Summer walked up the hundreds of steps to the Red Stone area to talk to their parents. Cypher, Alric and Ehvan went to the Silvermist to talk to people. In the Silvermist, people gave the impression that Daask was involved. He also hinted that other people had been disappearing.
In the Red Stone neighborhood, the weather is much better. Summer is struck by the sight of the sun setting over the sea. Roscoe drags Summer over the address and by some fast-talking, convinces the parents to let us complete the task. Searching Thelma’s rooms, Roscoe discovered dream lily packets.
Back at Roscoe’s clinic in Callestan, we discussed what we had found out. Alric, in talking to the bartender at the Silvermist had learned that two girls had been hanging out with a shifter named Bracks. Bracks lives on the east side of the “Bridge” in Daask territory. He often can be found at a place named the “Blood Bol”.
Heading across the plaza into the east side, we found a lot orcs, gnolls and shifters. The Blood Bol is a much more savage place than the Silvermist – featuring a Droam atmosphere and decorations. There is a subtle difference in the dyes of the green silk hangings decorating the walls – making the pattern of a dragon’s skull.
The bartender at the Blood Bol also suggests looking into the Daask. Bracks is not currently in the tavern. Returning to the Bridge plaza, we notice a group of gnolls and a minotaur hiding in an alley. On the west side of the plaza, we discover two gnolls watching the Boromar headquarters in the Golden Anvil. Roscoe puts one to sleep and we subdue the other one.
Questioning the gnoll, we learn that the gnolls and the minotaur – named Boss Horn – were involved in the disappearances. He also mentioned a hidey-hole in the same alley.
We returned to that alley and take down Boss Horn and his two allies. As we were searching their bodies, a door slams somewhere above us. We rush up the stairs of the tower to find a door barred against us. Cypher breaks through the door. Inside, we find a mockery of a dining club and goblins with short swords and shields.
A wild melee breaks out with more goblins rushing in to join the fight. One is subdued as the others are taken down, Questioning that goblin, we learn more goblins and prisoners are below us in the tower. He mentions a Serpent.
Ehvan bars the door to the dining club before we descend the steps. On the way down, we pass a kitchen with goblin cooks. Further down, we enter a large room. Four more armed goblins and a female minotaur stand beside a large meat grinder. In a whirlwind melee, we take them all down.
One of the doors in this room led to nine prisoners – street people as well as the two cousins that we were searching for. The other barred door led further down, Thelma and Colina mentioned a temple down there – and that once the Serpent comes back, the prisoners would have been taken below. The Serpent might be a medusa – and the temple dedicated to the Dragon Below.
Returning across the Bridge plaza to the Golden Anvil, Roscoe’s wife calls us over. After hearing our story, she wants us to find the temple of the Dragon Below. Finding out that Daask is supporting a temple to an illegal cult would be a weapon to use against the crime syndicate.
