On the next day, Eh’van takes our loot to a Boromar fence – they give us a really good price. Then once the proceeds are split up -we go our separate ways. Some head to Morgrave University, Summer goes to find someone who might know a way through the sealed entrances into the Depths.
On the way, Alric and Cypher discover a body, defeating the war-forged that was leaning over the corpse. The dead man was Bonel Gelim, an associate professor at Morgrave University, doing research into the War of the Mark and ancient Dragon Marks. The corpse had a ancient journal in his bag – one that radiates magic. It bears a sigil of House Cannith but the sigil is hundreds of years old.
Summer, Roscoe and Eh'van have less luck in their search – ending up at the Blood Bol where Reg is reluctant to let anyone through his sealed entrance.
Meanwhile, at Morgrave University, Alric and Cypher learn of an official entrance to the Depths, oopen to registered personnel of the Morgrave University. Luckily, a small fee, paid at the gate, will make anyone a registered personnel of the university.
Later, at dinner at the Golden Anvil, we discuss what we found. A woman in a blue cloak and accompanied by a war-forged comes into the room. Her name is Aledrin Devonne and she had an appointment with Professor Gelim. He had been doing research for her and discovered an old Cannith creation foundry deep in the Depths. Aledrin pulls off her glove, revealing her dragon mark and touches the journal. The dragon mark glows and the contents of the journal are exposed.
From the journal, Aledrin retrieves a map. She wants us to descend into the Depths to the old foundry and bring back a schema from long ago. It’s somewhere below Mallorn’s Gate. For this service, she’s willing to front us 1000 sovereigns as expenses and pay each of us, another 1,000 sovereigns. There is one other problem – the Lord of Blades is rumored to be seeking this schema. The entrance to the foundry is sealed with another ancient sigil from her house.
Aledrin knows of another entrance to the Depths – deep below the plaza. The seal is said to be broken. If we need to contact her, she has taken rooms at a hotel a few wards up.
In the morning, we meet at the Golden Anvil. The news this morning is the war-forged defeated last night – has escaped from the wardens. Then we head into the sewers, looking for the broken seal. Recent rainwater has washed out the bad smells so traveling the walkways isn’t so bad. After 30-40 minutes, we find the entrance. The seal is gone and the door is cracked wide open. We pass through to find ourselves in a small brick room. Holes have been knocked into the walls, allowing access to other areas in the complex. Through the holes came a rush of yapping gnolls – we defended ourselves until they had all been take of.
