At the dinosaur races Port Nyranzaru, Sunny noticed an elf watching her. She introduced herself. Elathrion said he’s looking for the Red Wizards of Thay – they caused the death of his wife and son. Sunny told of her encounter with a dying Thayan a few days ago. This dying slave spoke of Saheeli Raj and her attempts to recover the spellbooks and the Deck of Many Things taken from Valindra Shadowmantle. Then something possessed the dying slave and a voice spoke, mentioning the Band of the Half-orc, saying that they had the things being sought. That something killed the slave and departed.
When Sunny describes the dying slave and his tattoos, Elathrion says that the slave, a man named Atali, was someone he was looking for. Following the one clue, the Band of the Half-Orc, Sunny and Elathrion decided to attend a Gala at the Museum – the adventuring band was supposed to be there.
At the Gala, Sunny went up to the Half-orc and asked him about the Red Wizards. He’s about to answer when the party is interrupted by a big, bald and tattooed woman with heavy features. She was accompanied by several zombies. Saheeli Raj demanded that Jaggerd return the Deck of Many Things. Randall blurts out that they don’t have it anymore – once used, it vanishes. She was furious and threw down Cloud Kill on the party.
The Band of the Half-orc dispelled the Cloud Kill, destroyed the zombies and sent Saheeli fleeing for her life.
It was decided to track down the woman, starting with the Thayan enclave in Port Nyranzaru. Elathrion and Sunny join the Band of the Half-orc in flying over the 20’ stone walls with a flying carpet. After dispatching the undead fighters in the courtyard, we entered the Great Hall. Inside, we ran up the stairs and faced an impossibly pale man at the top of the stairs. He charmed Randall. Sunny removed the charm as the rest of the party piled into him. The pale man turned into mist which poured into a nearby bedroom. We followed the mist and found his coffin. The vampire was destroyed.
A few doors down, we discovered Saheeli Raj’s bedroom. She ordered the flesh golem to attack as she started to cast spells. Kelric disintegrates her. The flesh golem went berserk but was soon killed.
A voice rang out – Valindra Shadowmantle – and thanks us for ridding her of a rival. The voice demanded the return of her Deck of Many Things and her spellbooks. Randall told the voice that the Deck of Many Things had been used and was gone. Valindra swore revenge on us for the slight.
The Band of the Half-orc decided that we need more information about the Red Wizards and the best source was Candlekeep. Sunny was excited to travel to the Sword Coast.
