Why We Can Never Leave the Island
Still in the village of Turatoa, we needed a moment to discuss our possibilities. Retreating to our assigned hut, we talked among ourselves before deciding to ask some of the other humans and non-lizard-folk. We asked them how many other non-lizard-folk were in the village, how long they had been on the island and how they arrived. We learned of the dangers further out to sea from the island including a kraken that destroyed any ships leaving the island. From the people from Mystera, we tried to estimate the times it would appear in Mystera. Tessa proposed building an airship but no one listened to that idea.
At the feast, later that evening, we meet the advisor to the lizard folk leaders – a human woman in a mask and learn of an elven sage, Fifven, that has been on the island for a while. The feast took place around the base of the village’s pyramid with the speaking stone making conversation possible. There was lots of fruits, vegetables and seafood but a shortage of meat. The lizard folk high priest, Kek, welcomed us and asked if we would become a part of the village. We agreed to join the village.
A little later, the woman in the mask introduced herself. She is Farah from the Forgotten Realms and has now been on the island for 5 years. She introduced us to Conrad, a strongly built bearded man in his 50s with a two-handed sword hanging from his back. Conrad has been on the island for 20 years.
Conrad is also responsible for organizing the defense of the village. He warned us that the zombies would be attacking the village again soon. The zombies are raised from the dead by certain lizardfolk that follow an evil deity known among as the Undertow. Then they are sent against the village. Rising from the water’s edge.
The next evening, shortly after dinner, an alarm was raised. Zombies are attacking from the eastern shore. We scramble to meet them. Talos casts faerie fire on the mass, making them stand out in the darkness. Our counter attack dropped the zombies. Several spells landed in out midst before we took out the mage that was secretly working for the evil lizard folk. Finally, we rushed the lizard folk sorcerer that was controlling the zombies and killed him too. From his body, we recovered a magical staff that radiated arcane power.
