On to the Ruins
Finally, we set out for the ruins. The first part of our journey, we traveled with lizard folk as they went to the tar pits to retrieve tar. We had only one incident – allosaurus that were scavenging meat from several dead herbivores decided to add us to their diet. After we killed them, the lizard folk cut them up for rations and we continued.
That night, in a lizard folk encampment, surrounded by a palisade of crudely cut logs, we enjoyed the meat they had cut from the dinosaurs. The next day, we continued our journey until we arrived at the tar pits around noon. We left the lizard folk to their work and headed further into the wetlands. Near the end of the day, we were attacked by flying reptiles carrying spears. Tessa threw up a fog cloud which made their tactics of hurling spears at range impossible. After a while, they flew off. Our travels through the swamp lands was interrupted by a pair of bulbous plants that attempted to overcome us with their alluring scents. Around evening we made camp at the edge of the swamp lands.
The next morning, we left the swamp lands and began our slow climb into the hills. We should arrive at the ruins at noon. On our way to the foot of the volcano where the ruins were supposed to be, we had a run in with a group of psionic lizards in the trees.
When we arrived at the ruins, we found a wall, thirty feet high, surrounding buildings, It was of the same cyclopean construction as the wall near Tanaroa. This wall had been badly damaged by something in the past as there were massive rents and tumbled stones. Through the gaps in the wall, we could look into the city. Climbing up onto the top of the wall for a better view, we could look over the ruins of the city. There was a large plaza. Dinosaurs were roaming the plaza, attacking each other. There was a larger building, in a better shape then most, closer to the volcano. We decided to descend into the ruins.
