Down into the City
Standing on the ruined wall of the ancient city, we could see lots of dinosaurs, all savaging one another. From this safe location, we then killed them before descending down to the city plaza. Devon suggested examining the smaller buildings before moving to the large building overlooking the city plaza.
The first building was a low construction with an arched entrance. Entering the building, we found a ruined fresco depicting lizard folk and serpent folk coexisting. A hallway with cubbies on either wall led to a large room, hot and dry with pit for heating stones. Tessa was able to identify the stones and the command words to heat and cool down the stones. This was a room for the incubation of eggs.
As we were crossing the plaza to the next building, some of us spotted a humanoid slipping into the door. We rushed across the plaza and into the building. Inside, we found a large chamber with three raised platforms. Bathed in a yellow light, three unfinished dinosaurs were slowly taking shape. A lizard folk was at the far end of the room, manipulating glowing crystals at a console.
We asked it what it was doing. It replied it was replacing the dinosaurs that we had killed in the plaza earlier. Talos asks him to stop. The lizard folk turns to run. A flurry of spells and weapons drops him.
While Talos figures out the crystals on the console, we question the lizard folk. It keeps talking about its master, a Naga named ‘Sztook’. From what we can see, this lizard folk is completely dominated by its master. The naga can found in the main building.
We leave the small building and turn to the main structure. Crossing the plaza, the approach is lined with statues of lizard folk and serpent folk. Beyond the main door, we find the corridor filled with more statues, some of which show lizard folk and serpent folk holding hands.
The corridor ends in double doors. Opening them, we find more lizard folk – but these have been turned into zombies. Ten of them and they don’t all look that ancient. They finally go down after a short struggle. The room they were in ended in a short stairway leading up. Two side doors were also in the room.
One of the side doors opens and a group of live lizard folk charge in, followed by two poisonous snakes. We kill them and retire to the first hallway for a short rest. But before that, one of us notices that all the lizard folk – were missing a scute from their chest. Even, now that our attention has been called to it – our prisoner lizard folk.
Now, we headed down the corridor and up the stairs through the double doors. Behind the double doors was a large room with more consoles, more glowing crystals and tables. On one table is a partially dissected lizard folk. Several other lizard folk were in the room including one large sized lizard folk. They turned to see what had entered their lair.
We finally prevailed but it was a struggle. The big lizard folk really did some damage. Now we were free to look around at the chamber. Tessa was almost out of spells.
