Closing Gates
While in Greywall, Torbrand communicates with the Dragon Towers about setting up a currency for the nation of Droam. Arriving in Sharn with a House Orien coach, we head for the Cliffside Adventurers Guild. Trouble makes her report to the Church of the Sovereign Host. In the meantime, Kadrin and Torbrand use the archives of the Cliffside Adventurer’s Guild to research more about Drahkan Rhal. They find maps and information on the central courtyard.
Later, that evening, they go down to the docks below Sharn looking for the minotaur, Duun. They come back much later, saying they had met a goblin named Katal and made arrangements to meet in the orc village in a week with the magical backup.
In the morning, we set out for the orc village. It was a pretty quiet trip, interrupted only giant spiders that wish only to drag our corpses over a wall and into the woods. We wipe out the spiders. The next evening, we arrive at the orc village where we are greeted by Tongo, the son of the village chief.
The next morning, we begin our exploration of the Drahkun Rhal ruins. Following the map, we are traveling down the main passage when someone spots two lights moving ahead. Kadrin goes to investigate. He reports that they were will-o-wisps and starts running back to us. As we charge up to deal with the glowing pests, a cloaker drops on Goran. We kill them all/
Continuing down the main passage, we have to skirt a collapsed area by moving along side passages. The last hallway led into a vast Great Hall, broken and partially open to the skies above. The Great Hall is supported by columns carved to resemble trees. The floor is covered with a thin, green layer of stagnant water. On one of the trees, Kadin spots a grick. They soon come at us until Torbrand catches them in webbing. From a safe spot, we were able to kill them with ranged weapons and spells.
Turning east from the Great Hall, we headed towards toward the Great Courtyard. As we left the doorway into the courtyard, we were attacked by six death hounds. We were busy with the two-headed dogs when Kadrin warned us that dolgrims were coming and worse. Torbrand flung fireballs into the darkness, killing the dolgrims and injuring the two dolgaunts that were approaching as well. Then their leader, a large, centaur-like creature named an Araknight(?) stepped out of the shadows and shot a lighting strike at us.
Torbrand slowed down the dolgaunts and the Araknight(?) with another web spell. As they cut their way free, we cut them down. After examining the battlefield, it was clear that Araknight(?) and his dolgaunts were trying to cross over and breach the protective field surrounding the gate.
Sammish and Torbrand worked hard at repairing the wards around the gate. Then we returned to the orc village. The next morning, Katal and his goblins arrived to provide magical assistance in the resealing of the gate. After completing the work, we returned to Sharn.
