A Pile of Serpentmen Bodies
Varia pointed down a hallway and said we needed to go deeper if we wanted to recover her mask. As we descended, we kept running across serpent men bodies, all with wound inflicted by a smaller species. Stepping over a larger pile of bodies, we went down the corridor they had been blocking.
This corridor had been trapped. As we cleared them, the trap setters came out. Seeing the armed kobolds, Three Rivers shouts that we don’t serve the serpent men or the nagas. The kobolds stopped their advance and called for their speaker. The Speaker was another kobold with a fancy hat and wings.
Three Rivers and Talos explained why we have come to their caves. The Speaker agreed to help us and gave us two kobolds to act as guides. Marching deeper into the caves, the kobolds warned us about the devil rays and their servants that guarded the lower reaches.
The cave walls, floor and ceiling became more dank as we descended. Then things flapped down from the cave roof to wrap themselves around our heads while their barbed tails jabbed at us. As we struggled with the mutated cloakers, a larger devil ray – like a manta ray – glided into view. It moans, frightening Tessa and a few others. Three Rivers cast silence on himself and went up to kill the flying horror.
A bit further on, we struggled with the uneven flooring until it rose from the floor to attack Antor and Three Rivers. But pinned down by Three Rivers and Antor’s weight, it had little chance of surviving. The corridor continued around a corner. Varia mentioned that this part was becoming familiar to her – at the next corner, we should find a console control room like the one we had seen in the other ruins.
When we got the console room, we found several fishmen already there. The big fishman with the scepter urged his guards to attack us. We started to kill them. When the fight was over, we cleared out the console room, looted the control crystals and set watches for a long rest.
