Secret Temple
Still in the tunnels below the abandoned house, we had just killed three serpent folk and looted a altar in an octagonal chamber and now needed to decide which path to take. We chose the corridor heading north.
The corridor led past a set of double doors. Talariel listened at the door before stating that room was probably empty. When the doors were opened, we found a large chamber decorated with purple wall hangings. Six skeletal fighters got up and started to reach for us. Zayd noticed that they took more damage from his mace so Alessa left her sword in her scabbard and proceeded to punch them. The skeletons were soon destroyed so we searched the chamber, turning a fair bit of silver coin and an arcane shield.
Behind the purple curtains, we found another passage. Here, we picked up a magical spear. Descending further, we came across a door leading to a small octagonal room fitted out to be someone’s office and library. Cassander started examining the books. The one on the desk was a large tome with the title – “The Book of the Unspeakable One”. It described the cult of the ‘Yellow Sign’. The tome was too big to fit inside our bags.
Continuing on down the passage, we ended up in front of another set of double doors. Behind the doors was a well-illuminated chamber, decorated with writhing snake columns. This was the hidden serpent folk temple.
Two serpent folk attendants hissed their displeasure and moved to attack while Milos, the head priest of the Temple of Knowledge, drew himself up. Zayd and Alessa moved into to attack while more serpent folk entered the chamber from behind Milos. Alessa’s opponent having been dropped, Alessa went after Milos. Wounded, Milos transformed into a true serpent folk but that was not enough to save him. We killed him.
Tied up behind the altar was our missing acolyte, Lucius. We untie him and take him quickly to the temple. While waiting, Theron, the arch priest of the Temple, came out to thank us for destroying the cult’s temple and returning Lucius. Alessa quickly asked to see Lucius’ travel logs. Theron made them available to us.
The travel logs were long, detailed and written in a language that no one had ever seen before.
