Silas Snakeye
So, since Tharmis, a roof runner working for Glenthalion, is missing, we decided to start our search in the Dock District where he went missing. Zayd, Alessa and Cassander searched the streets around the area and asked questions of the locals. Miranda and Talariel followed Tharmis’ original route over the roof tops to see where his trail ended.
Miranda and Talariel found a place where the roof railings had been tampered with. On the ground, Zayd discovered where a ladder had been hidden, a ladder long enough to reach the roof railings and allow someone to almost cut them through. ‘Gilded Painting’ had been burned into the ladder – we decided to look up the company.
At ‘Gilded Painting’, we learned that the ladder had been stolen the day before. Pressuring the crew leader closer, he nervously told us that Silas Snakeye and another man had paid him to borrow the ladder for while. The other man was dressed in concealing cloak – but he had expensive shoes and a goatee.
From the place where Tharmis fell, we followed a path that led through back alleys and side streets to the Tercel Shipping company offices. The offices were located in a two story building that had a back alley and a rear door. Waiting, we watched Prisco Alder and his bodyguard, Silas Snakeye, leave for the day. This gave us a narrow time window to enter the building to search for Tharmis.
Zayd picked the lock on the rear door and Alessa forceed the chained door open. Once inside the darkened office building, we noticed light coming from underneath a door. Opening the door, we found stairs leading down. At the bottom of the stairs was an elf tied to a chair, two thugs dressed like buccaneers and a cloaked man with a goatee.
Miranda and Alessa jumped the stair railing to close with the buccaneers while the cloaked man cast a spell at the others. Zayd escaped the entangling shadows, while Cassander and Talariel struggled. As the buccaneers began to fall, the cloaked man teleported to the top of the stairs before running away. The remaining buccaneer yelled, “Lukon, you bastard!” before giving up.
Tharmis was eager to return to the Rose Garden. We let him go. The buccaneer, now scared of the tea merchant, took his fallen comrade and retreated. We now had a chance to ambush Silas Snakeye on his back to the Tercel offices.
We took up posts outside the Tercel Shipping company offices. It was a clear, moonless night. We waited. Finally, Silas Snakeye came out of the darkness, walking alone. Alessa started the fight by rushing him with her spear. Silas Snakeye fought well, maneuvering to try getting inside the Tercel Shipping doors. Miranda finally dropped him. We dragged him off the boardwalk and using the key that Zayd found, brought him inside the offices.
Inside the Tercel Shipping office, Cassander stabilized and disarmed him. As we were deciding what to do with him, the posts and lintels of the building began to sprout leaves. Glenthalion had arrived. The tea merchant was accompanied by an elven woman. She turned to Silas Snakeye and proceeded to read his memories. When she had finished, she confirmed to Glenthalion that Silas had laid hands on Tharmis. Then she told us that Silas was responsible for Eugene Tercels death and the death of his son. Glenthalion handed Silas Snakeyes’ vault key to Cassander before taking the killer out behind the Tercel Shipping company and executing him. He strangled him with Strangling Figs, then casting a rapid growth spell on some rose hips he placed in Silas Snakeye’s mouth. The roses would serve as a reminder to not cross the tea-merchant.
We retired for the night. In the morning, Zayd and Cassander would find out what’s in Silas Snakeye’s vault box.
