The cuisine of the isles is a curious mix of styles, along the coast chicken, squab and seafood are the main proteins. As you travel inland you get more mutton, eel, and the diet relies more on vegetables to bulk out the meal. Potatoes, eggplant, and tomatoes have been integrated into the diet in the last 50 years, but maize has been harder to adopt. It grows well, but it does not provide any significant nutrients unless it is the dried and processed product that comes from the Gigantic Confederacy. Throughout out the isles, cheese is the most significant agricultural product. every village has a style all alone and the autumn Cheese Fair in Restinford draws crowds from far and wide. There is a lot of pride in the terroir of cheese in the isles in general and in Restinford in particular. As far as drink, beer ale and tisane are by far the most common. Tea and coffee need to be imported but are readily available and there are several wineries of middling quality on the islands, so the better win comes from the continent.
