The World Beyond The Lendor Isles.
The Great Kingdom of Lurian,
Nine hundred years ago the seven largest provinces of the Tocasian Republic broke away, forming their own kingdom. Until recently the Kingdom was a stilted aristocracy that consolidated power in the hands of a few high-ranking nobles and bothered itself with border conflicts with The Kingdom of Stregonia and the north men of the Dennethian Horde. That was until the Corvid Uprising 12 years ago.
The Agathid King was deposed in a bloody coup which swept in the head of the largest distaff branch of the royal line, the Corvids. The Corvid family had been rumored to be full of witches and diabolists for generations, nevertheless the Corvid interregnum was marked by civic, economic and agrarian reforms, an expansion of the harbor at Houndsport, and other infrastructure investments. It was during the interregnum that the first durable peace was brokered with the Kingdom of Stregonia which saw a reduction in the need for peasant levees.
Two years ago, the Corvid interregnum ended with the restoration of Agathid line in the person of Kyril Agathid. Thus far none of the changes from the reign of the shadowmaster have been reversed to the delight of some and consternation of others.
The Kingdom of Stregonia
A client state of the old Tocasian Republic stretching into antiquity, it is a fiercely independent nation that prides itself on never having been conquered. It is the manner in which Stregonia has maintained its independence that gives most folk pause. Stregonia is steeped in blood magic and ancient pacts since the time of the first queen, Medea.
Physically Stregonia is a forbidding place of craggy mountains and low-lying marshes. Stregonia has no deep-water ports aside from the island city of Zuroth where all incoming goods are transferred to barges for transport into the interior.
The borders of Steregonia are protected by the infamous Hellknights and they have been known to summon infernal aid when they are pressed. An icy peace has been brokered between the Great Kingdom of Lurian and Stregonia since the marriage of the shadowmaster’s eldest daughter to King Thessalaus IV of Stregona.
